Chapter 16 Part 2

So lately I’ve gotten into the habit of looking up bands and artists that not many other people know about. I blame this partially on my sister Allie who introduced me to a couple of these artists and got me started on clicking the “artists like…” button on iTunes. So I’ve decided to introduce you guys to a plethora of great musicians that just haven’t hit the top 100s list.

1.       Allen Stone. Oh my goodness gracious, this boy! He is an amazing R&B singer, possibly one of the best singers I have heard in a very long time. He’s obviously a tenor but can most defiantly hit some of the higher notes that I can’t even hit.  Not only does his general appearance scream underground, but so does the amount of people who have ever actually heard him sing before. Here’s some links to some of his songs/ him singing covers of other songs. I personally like him live better then recorded, so these are all live versions.

2.       Ed Sheeran. So I lied a bit when I said people hadn’t heard of these people. You may know this guy from his song A Team, but other than that Americans don’t know many other of his songs, English people are an entirely different story. This ginger British beauty not only sings greats songs, but also has amazing music videos to go along with them (including one with lots of cats and Rupert Grint). His acoustic live versions are just as good as the recorded (maybe even better). His style ranges from somber indie to up-beat Jason Mraz-ish rap. Needless to say here are some links to his songs

3.       Turquoise Jeep. Turquoise jeep is actually the name of the recording company, so I guess it should actually say Flint Flossy, Yung Humma, Slick Mahoney, Pretty Raheem, and Whatchyamacallit. As you might have guessed, these are all rappers. Some people might call these people “bad rappers” but that’s only because they haven’t heard enough of their songs to make a judgment on them. Links below. And no Flint Floss isn’t Eddy Murphy.

4.       Childish Gambino. That last song Fuck Your Blog not only is great because of the Turquoise Jeep boys, but also because of another talented rapper Mr. Donald Glover himself. You might know him if you watch the brilliant show “Community” or you might have seen him on Comedy Central doing standup. He’s one of my favorite rappers. He has two albums (Camp and Culdesac) and two mix tapes (Royalty). I like Camp the most because it is the closest of the three to being truly Donald. I do however like the song Royalty for the soul fact that it features Tina Fey rapping at the end.

I get bored very easily so that’s all I have for today. I will leave you with a list of some more music people I like that you can look up in your free time…

-          Jukebox The Ghost

-          Parachute

-          … And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead

-          A Rocket to the Moon

-          All Time Low (actually well know)

-          Counting Crows (again well know)

-          Millwakee Famous

And don’t worry; I didn’t forget your cat.
